DIY Teacher Gifts : Succulent Terrarium

I bought these really cool glass pears a few years ago at Tuesday Morning for about $4. I had every intent on using them for air plants but I never did.

Perfect time to make it an end of the year teacher gift!

This is how it sat for years on my bookshelf.....as bookends.

I used a teaspoon measuring spoon to fill in the soil around the succulents that I placed inside. It was nice and small to get all around the roots.
I placed some rocks all around to cover up some of the soil. If you get dirt up the sides, at the end just fill your teaspoon up with water and pour it down the side to wash it down.

I found the little wooden apples at Michael's and painted them with chalkboard paint to use as gift tags. 29 cents each! Can't beat that!

I made a little flag and hand wrote "thanks for helping me grow" but I didn't like it, so I made a new flag that I printed out and glued onto to scrapbook paper.

A new little flag.
I still had three more teachers to gift.
The blue salvia at Home Depot were to beautiful to pass up, but to buy three pots this size was going to be $15-$20 each!
Looking at the size of these plants, I had an idea....Dollar Tree!
$1 each!
I have seen these wire baskets for a while now....in black and white but they only had yellow. I really wanted white ones!

It's all good though because I think they turned out adorable!
I wrapped the black pots in Christmas paper turned inside out and banned it with a rubber band. Made little banners that read "thanks" and tied them to the baskets.

DIY Picture Frame

Who doesn't need more picture frames?? This one will be easy to change out the picture whenever you want to too!

I have some good scrap wood laying around in my garage that I have been wanting to put to use.

I am one that is guilt of buying craft stuff "just because" and I had  a few strips of wood trim for years back that I needed to get off my shelf as well.

DIY Nautical Picture Frame using scrap wood.

Scrap Wood

I chose to paint stripes but you can stencil, decoupage, stain or paint anything you like...endless possibilities:)

I used my "little" miter box to cut the angles in the trim and wood glue to attach it to the frame.

Rope like trim.

Gave the trim a navy blue paint job and glued on a small clothes pin to hold the picture. I LOVE clothes pins!!

This was very simple to make and I hope it will give you some creative ideas!

Loving my DIY nautical picture frame:)

DIY Craft Table - Part 1 {Ana White Plans}

I started building a craft table for a client a couple of months ago and the build is complete! I have to finish painting the base, but it has been moved into the clients home and it looks AMAZING if I may say so myself....hehe:)

This was the inspiration image from Pottery Barn.

After seeing her inspiration piece, I knew right where to go!!
Ana White of course! Plans Found HERE.

I should have it painted by next week and will have some AFTER pictures to share with you all.

I just have to let you all know that this was my first build following plans!! I was so afraid of cutting a board down to the wrong length and having to go buy more wood! That didn't happen.

Mini Reese's Cheesecake

I made these Mini Reese's Cheesecakes for Easter and since they where SO delicious, I thought I would share the recipe.

I found this recipe on Inside BruCrew Life. Jocelyn HAS A TON of great recipes on her blog!

Ingredients

2 (8 oz. each) cream cheese, softened

1/2 c. sugar

2 eggs

2 tbsp. sour cream
4 tbsp. honey
1/2 c. peanut butter
16 Reese's Peanut Butter cups, regular sized
16 Reese's Peanut Butter cups, miniature sized
1/2 c. whipping cream
1 c. chocolate chips

Instructions
  1. Beat cream cheese until very creamy. Add the sugar and beat on low until fluffy. Add in the eggs, sour cream, honey, and peanut butter. Beat until all combined.
  2. Place a large unwrapped peanut butter cup in the bottom of each cupcake liner. Spoon enough batter over top to fill the liners 3/4 full. Bake at 350* for 20-22 minutes. Cool in pan for about 15 minutes, then carefully remove to a wire rack to finish cooling.
  3. Place in the refrigerator for 1 hour. Heat whipping cream to boiling, remove from heat, and stir in chocolate chips. Continue stirring until chips are completely melted. Top each cheesecake with a generous spoonful. Cool. Before serving, top with cool whip, sprinkles and a small reese's cup. Keep refrigerated
I made my own whip cream

*1 cup heavy cream

*1 teaspoon vanilla extract

*1 tablespoon confectioners' sugar

1. In a large bowl, whip cream  with a whisk until stiff peaks are just about to form. Beat in vanilla and sugar until peaks form.

DIY Pallet Stand

This little stand was very easy to make! Pulling ALL of the staples out of the planks was the hardest part!

I plan on using this for photo shoots. It can be used as a lemonade stand, kissing booth, tack shop, etc.

I didn't have to cut any of the planks...I just layed them out and used them to fit best.

I used a wider plank for the top ledge.

I marked out grooves to cut out so that the ledge would rest just right.

Once that was done, I cut two smaller pieces for the side supports.

Please don't look at my messy backyard!

Stained it and screwed a plank across the top.

My youngest son, Tanner:))
